The announcement came during a high-level government visit to the historic El-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company.
During an extensive tour of the historic El-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company’s factories in Helwan, Dr. Hussein Issa, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met with Yehia Abdel Halim, CEO of SN Automotive, alongside several company executives. The meeting was attended by Engineer Mohamed El-Saadawy, Chairman of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company, and Dr. Nabil Hammad, CEO of El-Nasr Automotive.
The Deputy Prime Minister reviewed SN Automotive’s strategic roadmap ahead of introducing the first fully locally assembled electric vehicle (EV) in Egypt and the Middle East, which is being manufactured inside the El-Nasr automotive plant.
Yehia Abdel Halim, CEO of SN Automotive, outlined the technical preparations underway for the commercial rollout into the Egyptian market, officially anchoring the vehicle’s launch date for the third quarter of 2026.
SN Automotive is the product of a strategic partnership between Al Safy Group, a leading private conglomerate, and the state-owned El-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company. The venture serves as a model for integrating private sector efficiency with state-backed industrial powerhouses.
This joint venture aims to redefine Egypt’s automotive industry and maximize the utility of historic production assets and expertise, aligning with state directives to localize advanced technology and foster a resilient, sustainable economy.
Following the tour, Abdel Halim expressed his appreciation for the government’s continued support and its commitment to developing national industries and building a competitive manufacturing base. He noted that expanding EV production reflects a forward-looking vision aligned with global shifts, strongly reinforcing the “Made in Egypt” brand.
“The upcoming period will bring unprecedented, pleasant surprises for the Egyptian consumer,” Abdel Halim said. “We are putting the final touches on a sophisticated electric vehicle that meets consumer expectations in terms of quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.”
He emphasized that the domestic manufacturing of electric vehicles will stand out as one of the Egyptian state’s and its national companies’ most prominent achievements in the coming phase.
“SN Automotive is spearheading this promising national objective,” Abdel Halim added. “We have an integrated business plan to drive the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Egypt, offering substantial benefits to the market and consumers, as well as the environment and the national economy. Our goal is to shift consumer mindset toward electric mobility as the cost-efficient, eco-friendly choice of the future.”
The Deputy Prime Minister concluded his tour by praising the Egyptian workforce, calling it the backbone of the country’s modernization plans. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a favorable investment climate and supporting ambitious partnerships like SN Automotive, which position Egypt at the forefront of clean-tech manufacturing in the region.
